Call for Internationalisation stipends from the Danish Research Council - 10.04.2008

Internationalisation stipends from the Danish Research Council

The Danish Research councils now provides support for full 3-year Ph.D. studies to be carried out at foreign research institutions (typically universities), see the attached announcement (also appears from www.fi.dk). The students will be enrolled at the foreign university and not at a Danish institution. Applicants need to hold a MSc from a Danish university in order to apply. It is possible to apply for studies at research institutions in EU member states or institutions in Canada, India, Japan, China and the US. Candidates who want to apply should make contact with a Danish university/research group/coordinator as the grant is to be managed and coordinated by the Danish partner. The Danish coordinator may help make the application and in most cases potential candidates can benefit from already established strong international collaboration and networks of the Danish partner.

Note, that it is the Ph.D. applicant who submits the application to the Danish Research Council! The budget allows for funding of contact meetings between the coordinator affiliated with a research education programme (in this case RECETO) and the foreign research group.

The announcement describes the details of the application procedure. Please note that contact should be made with a research group at the foreign university, which need to provide a statement with regard to the proposed Ph.D. study/project. The planned Ph.D. project needs to fit will into the research programme of the foreign research group. Note also, that ideally the applicant should document enrolment at the foreign university. The Danish coordinator can help facilitating the contact between interested applicants and the foreign university.

Evaluation criteria comprise the quality of the Ph.D. project, the qualifications of the candidate, the standing of the foreign research environment and the expected benefits from completion of the Ph.D. abroad.

The deadline for submission is 30th of May at 3 pm.

RECETO would like to be informed about applications for internationalisation stipends which involves a research group affiliated with RECETO.

Best regards,

Hans Chr Bruun Hansen
