2 year post.doc position on climate change and endocrine disruptors - 23.07.2008

TWO-YEAR POSTDOC POSITION IN HORMONE-RELATED EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE  UNIVERSITY OF COPENHAGEN, FACULTY OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

The Department of Pharmaceutics and Analytical Chemistry, under The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, invites applications for a postdoc position with a duration of two years starting October 1st, 2008.

 

The project focuses on the combined effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals and climate changes (such as extreme temperature and humidity variations) on endocrine systems. The applicant should therefore have extensive experience within the area of toxicology and/or ecotoxicology, preferably with a focus on endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Experience with in vitro assays such as the Thyroid Hormone Assay and the Aromatase Assay will be considered an advantage, as will experience in detection methods such as LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS. The successful candidate will be part of the research group Toxicology and Environmental Chemistry.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our department’s teaching, and therefore teaching qualifications will be assessed in connection with selection of the candidate. Candidates who have not yet received their PhD degree are welcome to apply, but the selected candidate must have earned a PhD degree before the starting date of the position.

The scientific and teaching objectives of the department encompass the areas of drug formulation and pharmaceutical technology, as well as drug-related analytical and physical chemistry, toxicology and environmental chemistry.

 

The research in environmental chemistry in the department is related to the field of the fate and effects of drugs, drug degradates and hormone-mimicking xenobiotics in the environment.
