Phd course: Special Topics in Ecotoxicology - 15.06.2010

Time: 4th to 10th October, 2010
Location: IMARES-Den Helder (Harssens). There is optional housing available at Potvis Texel (‘t Horntje).

Both locations are very close to the ferry terminal.

Description: This course series deals with Timely Topics in Ecotoxicology.

Organizer: Prof.dr. Tinka Murk (WUR)

Aims: Because of the scale, competing claims and complex contaminant sources of marine ecosystems, fundamentally different issues are studied and approaches applied in marine ecotoxicological research and risk assessment. The aim of this course is to familiarize participants with the main ecotoxicological issues relevant in marine ecosystems, sources of marine pollution, marine environmental chemistry, effects of POPs in marine food chains, multi-stress, sources and effects of oil pollution at sea, test methods for marine ecotoxicological research and marine environmental policy.

Fee: (incl. 1 special dinner, but excluding possible (shared rooms about 20 € per night) housing and (low cost) meals in the Potvis): SENSE PhD students: € 250,-; Other PhD students: € 350,-; SENSE or IMARES staff: € 450,-; Others: €1000,-.
